Fragments
Project Statement:
Fragments is about the personal experience of being lost in yourself. It’s a strange state, because you don’t understand the signs leading up to it, but when you arrive here - you recognize it immediately. For me, it was June 15th, 2025, the day I ended a long relationship. Looking back, the first signs were already there months before. The first photograph I made for this series - the blue and green one in November 2024 - was my earliest clue, though I didn’t understand it at the time.
The feeling of being lost is absurd. On the surface you look fine, you function as usual, without anyone knowing what is actually happening. But inside you, something is searching, looking for something. Each week the fragments seem to form a new image, then it will fade again and come back as something different, it's a game. People often see this state as a negative experience, but I’ve come to believe it’s beautiful. This is the time where you pick up the fragments and compose together the image
The photographs represent exactly that moment of arrival. The glass surface that the colors are casted on is the self, as if seen from the innerbody, while the environment around you blurs into confusion. The haze, the lights, the reflections: they are the texture of uncertainty. What you see in these photographs is real - not arranged, not constructed. They seemed to find me at the exact moments I needed them. They taught me something I didn’t know before: that the feeling of being lost is not an ending. It’s the beginning of becoming someone new.
